Holiday Reminders and Tips

Being stuck in the Philadelphia Airport for eight hours* (oh, yes you did hear me!) makes one reflect on the holiday season. Here are some brief words of wisdom from me.

  • Drive home if you can. Screw the airports.
  • Let you parental units/relatives drink, but avoid them when they start to blabber, "Jesus is the reason for the season".
  • Cleaning up the mess in the kitchen or any room is the best form of avoidance.
  • Don't be THAT relative. You know, the really drunk one blabbering about the manger and how the virgin mary looked so pretty in blue.
  • Kiss your grandparents hello and good bye.
  • Pack light on the way there, so you can load up your booty for the trip home.
  • Have a list of stories on hand to tell. Elaborate, make them up. Make sure your mom has not told everyone how fabulous your trip to Vegas was before you could.
  • Know your at home limits: leave before you get cranky. My time maximum is 5 days.

*Editor's note: Eight hours? Nay. Let'e try over night in Philly at a hotel up at 3:30 AM to catch the 6 AM flight and praying that the 6AM does not get snowed out and has a full crew.

Buy Blue

http://www.buyblue.org/current_campaign.html

Much to my chagrin, one of my nemeses donates to the Democratic Campaign -- Starbucks. They also donate alot to NPR.... Damn you! But, thanks! *sheepish grin!* This list is enlightening, and an interesting breakdown.

Sara Recommends

These are things that I recommend. Hopefully you will find them enjoyable as well, and if not, well, at least you tried it once, eh?

Dark and Stormys
Ginger beer and Goslings Dark Rum with a hint of lime juice. Best made with Stewart's Ginger beer but any kind will do. It's lovely to drink--a bit of spice humming on your tongue and very refreshing. Best in summer, but fine for any time of year. Like tonight. Cheers!

Fables
Comic created by Bill Willingham. Looking for a comic with stronger female roles, where they are not always some Amazon or twig with ridiculous ta-tas? (and yes, the ta-tas do have their place.) Take your favorite story book characters and place them in New York City. Snow White is the deputy mayor of the Fables. Its a very interesting concept that makes you think about the stories you heard as a wee pup, and how much more complex they really are. Beautiful artwork. I am in love with Rose Red. Nod to Tony & Torrey on this one.

Not leaving your liquid laundry soap in the car
It freezes. Who knew?

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King -- Extended Edition
PJ is my hero. I emmersed myself again into Middle Earth. I had not seen it since last year at the theatre and did so on purpose. I wanted to be blown away again. I am in awe of the passion, imagination and love that went into the films from all parts. The cast is gushing about the experience and I feel that in every second of film. Everytime I watch it, I find a new character I love more and more. This time around: Pippin. The song Billy Boyd wrote breaks my heart.

Testing 1 2 3

In order to start this blog, I have to give it the inargural post. Hurrah for the first post! Cheers!
